WEEK-END ROUNDUP

OK, so Patrick has over 200 friends now on Facebook/Dogbook. Here are some of his newest little buddies...

It is 6:28 a.m. and 58.5 degrees. Patrick is in his usual spot, doing his usual thing.

Last night, Watched three quarters of WV slaughter Maryland, then gave it up.

Terps hung in tough for awhile, then it just got away from them.

I never did do my Sunday morning analysis o f last week's games and I've slept since then, but here goes:

This was the week of Upsets and Scares.

Gave up on watching Miami-Oklahoma when it got to 21-3, too painful to watch.

Joined West Va. and Marshall with Marshall up 16-13. A gal was doing the play-by-play. Quit that game after ten minutes , with Marshall behind 27-16, oops 27-23: checked on Alabama-Vandy with tide up 13-3. Sabin's good.

OK, so back to Miami in the third, what happened to the blow-out? It's 21-10! OK now 21-13! Oops 28-13.THEN DISASTER STRIKES...

OK, so in the fourth, #16 Nebraska up on Wake Forrest by only three points. WTF???

So what happens? The Wake QB loses the game for his team with two picks, one in the end zone, one on their last drive...Watched a bit of Michigan-Oregon and Cal and Clemson--nothing special there.

OK, so what's UP with Michigan? They don't looks so hot. Ducks ran a statue of Liberty play to get a first down! That's so cool! Then another, but wait, it's FAKE to score a TD!

Wow, with the score 32-7 with 3:03 left in the half, the Michigan faithful either A) Have their heads in their Hands, or B) Are staring like deers caught in the headlights--Tears optional for either. Poor Wolverines are being boo'd on their own field...

OK, so Dogs, Gators do their 11th straight sell-out at Florida Field,

(data stream lost)

and guess whatt the USF kicker missed FOUR field Goals--but he DID tie the game with 20 seconds left. Leavitt blew the OT: Fourth and goal, he should have gone for the TD, not the field Goal, dumb!

So what was Data's Cat's name? What was Seven of Nine's Human name?

From the inbox, courtesy of Kay:

One day I decided to quit. I quit my job, my relationship, and my spirituality. I wanted to quit my life, so I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.
"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"
His answer surprised me, "Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"
"Yes", I replied.
He continued, "When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed, but I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed, but I did not quit on the bamboo. In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo seed, yet I would not quit. In the fourth year, again there was nothing from the bamboo seed, but I would not quit. Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth and compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant. But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots and those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle."
Then He said to me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time that you have been struggling you have actually been growing roots. I would not quit on the bamboo and I will never quit on you. Don't compare yourself to others. The bamboo had a very different purpose than the fern, yet they both make the forest beautiful. Your time will come. You will rise high!"
"How high should I rise?" I asked.
"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.
"As high as it can?" I questioned.
"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."
I left the forest and brought back this story. I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.
Never regret a day in your life.
Good days give you Happiness.
Bad days give you Experiences.
Both are essential to life.
Happiness keeps you Sweet,
Trials keep you Strong,
Sorrows keep you Human,
Failures keep you Humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only God keeps You Going!
God is so big, He can cover the whole world with his Love,
and so small, He can curl up inside your heart GO GATORS!!!

GAME DAY

It is 8:47 a.m. and clear blue sky outside at 48.1 degrees. Patrick is curled up on his afghan in front of the space heater, waiting for his breakfast.

Today's the BIG GAME.

Florida vs. Ohio State for another National Championship.

It's win-win for the Gators. If we win, we win. If we lose, well we beat the National Champs by 26 points in the regular season!!!

LOOK OUT BUCKEYES!
HERE COMES ANOTHER SACK!!!

GO GATORS!!!

It is 10:30 a.m. and we are home from our unexpected trip to the island with Junior and Patrick. It is 61.2 degrees F. if you can believe that, and Patrick is ensconsed on the recliner under his dog tent.

Random thoughts:

These long trips in little subs always wear me out (The Faraday Effect?), but doggie and Junior seem no worse for wear. I'll just take it easy for a few days. And that damned Kate just gets more cute every time we see her!

Gators put us thru another hand-wringer last night, just barely getting by Butler. Ohio state pulls yet another one out of their asses by a point or two. Tennessee is such a huge dissapointment in the clutch , all the time!

The guy that found an original copy of the Declaration in a garage sale and bought it for two bucks just got a half mil at auction. Wonder if he gives the garage owner anything as a thank you? Even a gift cert to red lobster--I know I would...Haven't heard anything about that, but let's face it, our MSM has displayed over and over and over and over again a lack of knowledge of the basics of journalistic methods, not to mention ethics.

Speaking of ethics, do they even exist anymore among our leaders? Can you believe so many democrat members of congress would vote to undermine our troops? It's shameful! Actually, there's no word that describes how dastardly it is. Maybe we could invent one....

"When Satan is knocking at your door, simply say, "Jesus, could you get that for me?"

GO GATORS!!!

“[A]side from Osama bin Laden and his crew of merciless killers, the people most dedicated to seeing the United States defeated in a battle for the future of the world are the liberal Democrats now feebly trying to run the Congress. You really have to hate America and its people to lust after the defeat of your own country.” —Michael Reagan

TOO DAMNED CLOSE

POTENTIAL STROKER

SMALL BLOCK 400 TEAR DOWN

JUNIOR AND PATRICK WATCHING BILLY BALL

It is 7:23 a.m. and 37.8 degrees F. outside and dark. Patrick is asleep at my feet in front of the Space Heater on his afghan.

Junior started tearing apart the El Camino's old small block 400 yesterday. Good Deal! It threw a rod while I was taking him to school in Huntington over a decade ago. The Camino now sports a 305...

Gators just barely held on to beat Per-doo yesterday in NCAA. What's the deal? Wisconsin lost... More later.

From the In box at Patriot's Post:

“Our nation’s top military officer, a veteran decorated with no less than forty-eight military awards and a very distinguished career, made a startling revelation [last] week: He has moral conviction...

General Peter Pace commented in a wide-ranging interview with the Chicago Tribune, ‘My upbringing is such that I believe that there are certain things, certain types of conduct that are immoral. I believe that military members who sleep with other military members’ wives are immoral in their conduct, and that we should not tolerate that.’

But then Pace went on to tell the Tribune, ‘I believe that homosexual acts between individuals are immoral and that we should not condone immoral acts.’

Well, stop the presses. Of course, all that the radio, news, and television outlets have focused on since General Pace’s comments are his remarks on homosexuality. Never mind that he puts immorality of all kinds on equal footing...

We are basically saying that if you are the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, you are not allowed to express your moral or religious views—especially on matters of sexual preference and behavior.

This is another sign that we live in an age that no longer believes in objective truth or a moral order. Moral relativism is the rule, and personal preference trumps all. And government is there to ensure that no one place any restraint on the pursuit of our own desires.” —Chuck Colson
