THE PURINA DIET

It is 7:53 out and clear at 3.1 degrees F. We got about three inches of snow last night so everything is fairy-land pretty. Mr. Happy Sunshine is asleep at my feet on his afghan in front of the space heater. The big dogs are happy as pigs in shit with this weather, but I don't relish feeding and watering them with snow blowing horizontally, and wind chill at 20 below...

Just saw on ABC a piece where they went out and photographed no less than seventeen school bus drivers talking on their cell phones while driving a bus load of kids. I don't care if the driver is a ten-year-in-a-row recipient of the Bus Driver of the Year award and is in the final stages of being beatified by the Catholic Church, they ought to be fired on the spot if caught doing this. One of my huge pet peeves... And now, direct from my in-box--

THE PURINA DIET

I was in Wal-Mart buying a large bag of Purina for my dogs and was
in line to check out. A woman behind me asked if I had a dog........ Duh!
I was feeling a bit crabby so on impulse, I told her no, I was
starting The Purina Diet again, although I probably shouldn't because I'd
ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I
awakened in an intensive care unit with tubes coming out of most of my
orifices and IVs in both arms.
Her eyes about bugged out of her head.
I went on and on with the bogus diet story and she was totally
buying it. I told her that it was an easy, inexpensive diet and that the way it
works is to load your pockets or purse with Purina nuggets and simply eat
one or two every time you feel hungry. The package said the food is
nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again.
I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by
now enthralled with my story, particularly a tall guy behind her.
Horrified, she asked if something in the dog food had poisoned me and was that
why I ended up in the hospital.
I said no.....I'd been sitting in the street licking my butt when a
car hit me.
I thought the tall guy was going to have to be carried out the door.

There are 1,576 steps in the stairs up the Empire state building. They just had their annual race and the winner did it in 10 minutes.

There are 10 steps to the first landing here in the house, then three to the upstairs hallway. Anyway, 1,576 divided by ten is 157 trips , up, then down.

I wonder How many I could do in ten minutes. Actually I don't think I could go for ten minutes. Anyway, I think I'll give it a go and see what happens. I don't mean racing, just climbing at a normal pace.
