BYE BYE HUSKIES--Cinderella Lives!!
It's 5:53 a.m. , 22 degrees out, and Patrick got up and crawled under the covers with Junior who crashed on the couch downstairs.
There will be no number one seeds in the Final Four of the 2006 NCAA Tourney. Upstart 11 seeded George Mason crushed No. One Seed Connecticut last night 86-84, in OVERTIME.
With under three minutes to go in the first half, GM takes their first lead, by one point, only to have UCONN go on a 12-2 rampage, to end the first half with a nine point lead.
George battled back to tie it up at 49-49 with 12 minutes to go in the second half, and took the lead 52-51 at 11:04.
The lead changed, back and forth, until at 4:40 GM had a four point advantage.
Then, sweet victory is in their grasp, as the clock shows 17 seconds left and the Mason boys have a commanding four point lead.
So what happens? They blow it and Huskies tie it up at the final buzzer! Oh My!
George Mason tries their damnedest to blow it again in OT, when with 41 seconds left and a five point lead, they allow a Huskie acome back, but hang on to win by two, by just the barest broken fingernail.
But does the shoe fit in Indy? We'll see! Welcome to the Final Four, Regional Champs George Mason!. That trophy will look great in your case. You deserve it!
