John Carter

I remember well when I first saw Raiders of the lost ark in the theatre--i was disspointed. As a life long student of archeology, I think I was expecting something more serious. However, My first impression has radically changed, and now that I have seen this epic literally dozens of times, I can almost speak Indiana 's lines with him. It now resides in my top ten movies of all time with the likes of Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, The Birth of a Nation, The Wizard of Oz, and Star Wars.

So I was dismayed to see that Disney's John Carter was such a miserable flop. I came out of the theatre with the thought that Disney had hit a home run and a new franchise would be born with sequels, theme park attractions and cups eat McDonalds.

I have read many of Edgar Rice Burroughs Tarzan novels and also A Princess of Mars, many many years ago and he along with Arthur Conan Doyal is a favorite of mine for that time frame...

Oh, well, maybe I'm wrong again....

I've read all ERB's Mars books. I haven't seen the movie yet, but am looking forward to it.
