I once worked in the largest Go-Kart Factory in the US. I told the president of the Company, eyeball to eyeball, concerning a youth ATV: "These brakes don't work."
He hopped on the vehicle, drove it up and down the aisle, came back and looked me in the eye and said, "The brakes work fine."
They didn't--they barely brought the little kart to a rolling, coasting stop. This was a safety issue, involving children.
The Manufacturing Manager and I put ourselves on the public record, our last resort, stating in an email to the president that we would not build the vehicle with the brakes as designed.
The brakes were re-designed.
We both were eventually let go when it became expedient.
The company went bankrupt and was sold at auction, partly due to extraordinarily high product liability insurance costs due to payouts for accidents (but not on that ATV).
That president lives in a huge home with a four car garage. I wonder if Karma will catch up to him?
