TIME TO SHUT UP

It's 6:57 a.m. Patrick and Junior and Stephen (or somebody) are asleep on the couches downstairs. There's about 2 inches of snow on the ground, so planned geocaching trip is on hold. The weather people didn't have a clue...

I'm getting a little weary of the anti-war talk going on now. The democrats are totally devoid now of any moral compass whatsoever, and that means the country is 1/2 without a moral compass. I'm particularly tired of some few National Guardsmen whining about the war. Apparently they like the generous bennies of peacetime guard work, but no, don't send me overseas, THAT's not what I signed up for. Well, it IS. What did you think those rifles were for? The Guard was the nucleus of the first Units in the Civil War and the Fight against Poncho Villa. Other wars I'm not up on, Guard-wise.

I had to endure ten years of Dove crap about Viet Nam in the sixties and seventies. It took DECADES to finally forgive the hippies who fled to Canada. I came to appreciate their viewpoint and their sacrifice, those who stood up for what they believed and took the consequences (Jail or exile). But not draft-dodgers like Jefferson Clinton who promised to serve, then reneged by working the system.We NEVER will forgive Hanoi Jane or Sen. John Scary D-Hanoi. There is no statute of limitations on treason in my book. Anti war protest has it's place and we have to endure it, but not when it gives aid and comfort to the enemy. It almost seems the MSM and the democrat party are on THEIR side.

I was a citizen-soldier. I was drafted, a conscript. There was no lottery. I had a four year college deferment, when it was up, my time came--immediately. We all went. I was not a volunteer. But when my country called, I answered that call, and served with pride. I didn't want to go to Southeast Asia. At our fort, we had a bulletin board that listed the "Levy"--once a week a list would be posted: these 15 guys go to Viet Nam, those two go to Germany. You checked the list when it came out, for your name. My levy had just two names. I had orders to the war games, the other guy went to Germany. When I got to my overseas unit, all the FNG's were given a calendar--a line drawing of South Vietnam, or a dragon, or a naked girl, whatever, divided into 365 sections--you colored one in everyday. You were "short" when you got about 75% colored in. Nobody in their right mind wanted to be there. Everybody wanted to go home. But we did our duty and suffered the inevitable consequences, only a soldier far from home knows.

I am immensely proud of my service. I always supported America's fight against Godless Communism and its enslavement of half the earth. I would do it again. I wish some people would shut up. My president is not a liar, he is a Great Leader of the Free World, Thank God for Him. God Bless our Troops. If that sounds simple, it's because it is. That is all.
