INTERCEPTED! OH, MY!!!!!
It's 10:17 a.m. 52 degrees out, grey and steady wind at 20--25 knots. Patrick's with me.
Woke up last night and there was no coast-to-coast on the radio, indeed the red numbers that tell the time weren't on. No electric service. No security lights on at neighboring farms, all four points of the compass. Usually west and south are still on. Anyway gusts to 70 knots last night, knocked over Junior's basket ball net, limbs down etc. The wind was roaraing like a freight train last night, that always makes me uneasy, and Patrick, too ,was extra cuddly...
Well our Gators gave us a real nailbiter last night in the Swamp, beating Vandy 49 to 42 in double Overtime. The Vandy QB was on hot FIRE FIRE FIRE. They gave up on the run and at one point called 22 pass plays in a row, damn near all of them complete. With 4:11 to go, Gators had a two touchdown lead. Not for long! Pass 25, Pass 25, Pass TD !! Bam, Bam Bam! Defense couldn't handle what was Vandy's greatest hour!! Recover onside kick!! Pass, 15, Pass 20, Pass 12, Pass TD Bam Bam Bam! But live by the Pass, Die! Die! Die! by the pass! Gator Interception in 2OT ended this nightmare of completed Vandy passes!!! Oh, My!! Our Offense was superb. The defense gave the offense the ball on several KEY turnovers, I can't blame them for not being able to stop that demon passing attack!!! Anyway Gators by the skin of their teeth go to 7-2 , and this should be a good tune-up for next week in Columbia, where the Gators will face Stevie-boy's fired-up Gamecock Pass attack--Hope Urban and Strong can help the boys figure out what to do... Game stats, UF to UV: 29-22 1st downs, 191 -58 yards rushing, 257 to 361 yards passing, 488 to 419 yards total, Gators had ball nine more minutes, converted on 9 of 16 thirds and 2 of 2 fourth downs....
