note
Multi, Mystery and other off-set caches are encouraged! The markers are made of aluminum and are not magnetic. Each marker has a unique number and the date it was placed which will be a great source for coordinates for a multi or mystery. If you place a multi or mystery cache and it will be a spoiler to post a picture of the marker on your cache page, you can email a picture of the marker to Shannon instead (see below). Any cache you place will be owned by you and maintenance will be your responsibility. Please do a little research before the event and choose which markers you want to claim. Here’s a link to the list of markers: http://dhr.dos.state.fl.us/preservation/markers/markers_map.cfm There is no obligation to place a cache if you attend. Please join us for refreshments and a chance to meet other cachers, learn about caching and support historic preservation and education. Contact: Shannon O'Donnell, skodonnell@dos.state.fl.us, Historical Data Analyst, Florida Master Site File, Bureau of Historic Preservation, 850.245.6440 or 800.847.7278 Or via www.geocaching.com look up member FLHeritage. Eventually, the goal is to have a cache at or near every Historical Marker in the State of Florida. Look for markers with the state seal or the 3-palmed logo above. Don’t wait for this event if you want to place a cache. It's not limited to Leon County. Just remember, you are responsible for cache maintenance and all the usual cache placement rules apply (saturation, proximity to schools, ect).
