FROM THE INBOX:

Mr. Pin the Tail on the Donkey
By Michael Reagan
September 18, 2008

When I was a little boy we used to play a game where we wore a blindfold and tried to put a slip of paper on a drawing of a donkey we couldn't see. I thought of that as I watched the chattering class, blindfolded and frantically trying to pin the blame for the Wall Street debacle on everything but the real donkey, the Democrats, whose symbol is… guess what?

Right, a donkey, and that's where the blame lies, on Barack Obama's Democratic Party.

To find the donkey you need to go back to the Clinton administration, which decided that everybody and his kid brother was entitled to a mortgage even when they didn't begin to qualify for a home loan.

In saner days, banks designated certain areas as no-loan zones – depressed neighborhoods where lending money to potential home buyers was not just a risky investment, but a certain future foreclosure. Critics of the practice called it "redlining" and President Clinton and his chums on Capitol Hill decided that banks should no longer act like banks and lend money only to home buyers who could afford to handle the monthly payments. Now all bets would be off and people not the least bit creditworthy -- and speculators -- would be entitled by law to obtain mortgages even when it was obvious they couldn't afford to handle them.

Enter those now infamous quasi-government banking instruments known as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which poured fresh money into the banking system by buying mortgages from banks. Over the long haul they managed to load up their portfolios with billions upon billions of dollars of risky mortgage paper that banks had been forced to offer and then dumped on them.

The scandal of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac dwarfs the Enron debacle. In Enron, people went to jail. With the Fannies, some just walked away with millions.

The collapse of Lehman Brothers can be blamed on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the two big mortgage banks that the Feds recently bailed out with big bucks. As Fox News has pointed out, they used huge lobbying budgets and political contributions to keep regulators off their backs.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, the top three U.S. Senators getting big Fannie and Freddie political bucks were Democrats, and No. 2 was Sen. Barack Obama, who as Fox noted had only been in the Senate four years but still managed to grab that No. 2 spot ahead of longtime colleagues John Kerry and Chris Dodd, the chairman of the Senate Banking Committee.

According to Fox, Fannie and Freddie were where big-time Washington Democrats went to work and pocketed millions. Franklin Raines, Clinton's White House Budget Director, ran Fannie and collected $50 million.

Jamie Gorelick, an official in Clinton's Justice Department -- the woman who built the "wall" that prevented the FBI from targeting terrorists before 9/11 -- worked for Fannie Mae and took home $26 million. Big-time Democrat Jim Johnson, who headed Obama's VP search committee, also hauled in millions from running Fannie Mae.

Obama brazenly blames John McCain and the GOP for the current Wall Street mess when it's clear none of it was due to Republican policies. The truth of the matter is that it was McCain and three GOP colleagues who sought to reform the government's lending policies three long years ago after the Bush administration had failed two years earlier. On May 25, 2006, McCain spoke on behalf of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, and warned against the debacle we are now facing if it failed to pass.

He told the Senate that a report by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight charged that "Fannie Mae employees deliberately and intentionally manipulated financial reports to hit earnings targets in order to trigger bonuses for senior executives."

McCain warned, "If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole."

McCain predicted the entire collapse we now are suffering through. He stressed the falsification of financial records to benefit executives, including Obama advisers Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson.

Now Obama has the nerve to try to pin the blame on McCain and the GOP when the facts show that the blame must be pinned on the Democratic donkey.

IS NANCY PELOSI THE MOST DANGEROUS IDIOT ON THE PLANET?

Is she a complete idiot, or a traitor? Somebody, please, put a sock in this retard's mouth. Keep her away from the House of Representatives. Her last minute partisan speech blaming the Credit Crisis on the Republican Party killed the Bailout, and the Dow is in free-fall. And the blithering idiot Barney backs her up, insulting the Republicans further. Send him back to Sesame Street. If this wasn't so tragic, it would be funny. The sheer incompetence of these foolish jerks is a wonder to behold--other worldly!

92 democrats helped defeat the bill.

PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD, THAT YOU MAY BE ABLE TO STAND AGAINST THE WILES OF THE DEVIL

It is 58 degrees and 5:47 a.m. in the Wabash River Valley. Junior and Patrick are asleep downstairs.

POLITICS:

Your postmaster has been watching the American political scene now since Goldwater ran against Kennedy. Never before have I seen the amount of in-your-face LYING that I have witnessed in this Obamarama Campaign.

MARTHA MCCALLUM IS ONE SHARP COOKIE!!!

In some ways it doesn't make sense considering that with the Internet (Thank you Algore) so much divergent opinion and fact checking is so instantly available.

This campaign has also highlighted the fascinating power of the press as a force of organized propaganda.

REASON NO. 437 THAT NANCI PELOSI SHOULD QUIT THE HOUSE AND COMMIT HERSELF FOR PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING:

The loony actually called the republican house members "unpatriotic" for not agreeing with her.

Obama, out on the campaign trail yesterday actually had the unmitigated gall to claim credit for demanding and authorizing the modifications to the Bail-Out. In addition, he wants similar give-away packages for some of his other pet groups as well. Is this guy living in the real world??

No reaction yet from him that I've seen on his now famous Kissinger distortion...

The Audacity of the big Lie: Obama yesterday actually blamed John McCain for the credit crisis instead of owning up to it for his own party. Never knew McCain had such power!!

And after the debate, the mom who gave Obama her son's military bracelet, --remember when he proudly said "I've got a bracelet too!" -- then had to read it to remember the name, said she emailed his campaign months ago and asked him NOT to mention her son's name in speeches or debates. Oops!

I've not seen that item of jewlery before on Obama's wrist....

Oh, and another thing, while we're at it. Those Mennonites and Quakers who hosted a dinner party for the Iranian Maniac who wants to wipe out all the jews in the world, Do they know that the first person they meet at the Pearly Gates will be St. Peter? And that he's the guy that cut off Malchus' ear with his sword in defense of our Lord? Not really a pacifist type...

MEDIA:

Fox News Channel's anchors are decidedly conservative. But they are fair and balanced in that they allow all sides of an issue to voice their opinions, no matter how silly. They do call out liars, however.

MSNBC, seeing Fox's success, had tried to emulate them, but, ah, not so much. They're anchors range from mildly liberal, to frothing at the mouth ultra-Marxists. Their chicks are cute, but just fall short of world class beauties. They pretend to be fair and balanced by dressing up moderates and calling them Conservative or republican.

Speaking of chicks, this reporter has gotten hold of an internal memo from Fox News Human Resources: Memo to All Department Heads

In the search for on-air talent, the following guidelines should be followed for News personnel and Contributors:

Women should be 21-45 years old, 100-140 lbs., World Class Beauties with long legs, minimun B-Cup,preferably long blond hair and blue eyes.

They should be accomplished in their field, recognized and published experts, preferably with advanced degrees.

Use Megyn Kelly as the prototypical candidate.

Speaking of hot TV chicks who have courage and brains, it has come to our attention (due to Huckabee), that our favorite Survivor Girl, Elizabeth, has the MOST PERFECT FEMALE LEGS on TV... (Sorry, Martha...)

SAY GOODNIGHT, GATORS

It is 6:08 a.m. and Junior is a a paintball event and the little white dog is building a nest on his afghan at my feet.

GATORS:

Well, well, I guess losing by one point to an unranked two-loss SEC team in the Swamp pretty well ends Florida's race for the National Championship for this year. Guess we don't have anyone who can kick a 47 yard field goal. OK, no problem, we shift gears away from wins and focus on getting the stats up for a Heisman Run for Tebow and/or Harvin. Guess we weren't really as hot as we thought. One more year left on this quest, tho.

The one consolation is that Georgia got pissed on between the hedges by the Tide. Ha-Ha. Guess they weren't so hot as THEY thought either.

So, big shake-up in the polls, with Numbers 1,2, and 4 losing... Uh, when's basket ball start?

POLITICS:

Huckabee has a new show on Fox, with Elizabeth as his first guest, couldn't record it because it wasn't listed on the program guide, or does it start tonight? Ought to be very interesting. We've grown to like him more and more since he joined Fox as a contributor--snazzy move.

TODAY'S QUOTE:

How beautiful is Victory, but how Dear. --Buofflers

FROM THE INBOX:

Big Government: Barack Obama and Democrats blame the historic financial turmoil on the market. But if it's dysfunctional, Democrats during the Clinton years are a prime reason for it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Obama in a statement yesterday blamed the shocking new round of subprime-related bankruptcies on the free-market system, and specifically the "trickle-down" economics of the Bush administration, which he tried to gig opponent John McCain for wanting to extend.

But it was the Clinton administration, obsessed with multiculturalism, that dictated where mortgage lenders could lend, and originally helped create the market for the high-risk subprime loans now infecting like a retrovirus the balance sheets of many of Wall Street's most revered institutions.

Tough new regulations forced lenders into high-risk areas where they had no choice but to lower lending standards to make the loans that sound business practices had previously guarded against making. It was either that or face stiff government penalties.

The untold story in this whole national crisis is that President Clinton put on steroids the Community Redevelopment Act, a well-intended Carter-era law designed to encourage minority homeownership. And in so doing, he helped create the market for the risky sub prime loans that he and Democrats now decry as not only greedy but "predatory."

Yes, the market was fueled by greed and over leveraging in the secondary market for sub primes, vis-a-vis mortgaged-backed securities traded on Wall Street. But the seed was planted in the '90s by Clinton and his social engineers. They were the political catalyst behind this slow-motion financial train wreck.

And it was the Clinton administration that mismanaged the quasi-governmental agencies that over the decades have come to manage the real estate market in America.

As soon as Clinton crony Franklin Delano Raines took the helm in 1999 at Fannie Mae, for example, he used it as his personal piggy bank, looting it for a total of almost $100 million in compensation by the time he left in early 2005 under an ethical cloud.

Other Clinton cronies, including Janet Reno aide Jamie Gorelick, padded their pockets to the tune of another $75 million.

Raines was accused of overstating earnings and shifting losses so he and other senior executives could earn big bonuses.

In the end, Fannie had to pay a record $400 million civil fine for SEC and other violations, while also agreeing as part of a settlement to make changes in its accounting procedures and ways of managing risk.

But it was too little, too late. Raines had reportedly steered Fannie Mae business to sub prime giant Countrywide Financial, which was saved from bankruptcy by Bank of America.

McCAIN WON DEBATE BIGTIME

It is 6:02 a.m. and 57 degrees. Patrick is here at my feet on his afghan; Junior is at a Paintball Tournament in Michigan.

POLITICS: Well, the Old Navy guy did about as well as we expected and Slick Barry did better than we anticipated. However, we scored the Economic (Leher felt he had to justify it with a Quote from Eisenhower and a statement that the economy "by definition" --never saying what his definition was--was part of Foreign Policy!) Portion of the Debate 92 - 68 in favor of McCain. This segment took up 38% of the allot ed time

Wasn't it a relief that after awhile, the moderator quit trying to get them into a catfight?

In the Foreign Policy segment, We scored it 112 to 80.

We did not take points away for the 27 outright lies and distortions committed by the Junior Senator from Illinois.

McCain had none, that we could discern.

I know, don't go there. The logic escapes me, also. It's just that they are so blinded by their insane hate, they can't think straight (Oops, that's not a change...)

The Dems, in their blind fury at Senator McCain's coming to D.C. LIED UNASHAMEDLY about having a Wall Street deal in place. They now lie so easily, even when they know they will be outed in a few hours--they don't care. The have crossed that thin line into insanity--maybe they actually believe their own lies...

They are still insisting this mess is the fault of the republicans when it was their insistence on giving every Negro a house with attached garage to live in for free and a chicken in their pots while the President and the FED chairman were constantly warning them of impending doom.

Well, we started the season thinking we had this HUGE Offensive machine, but worried about the defense. So, the defense has stepped up, and been REAL stingy about giving up points, but where is the vaunted Super Offense? Is Meyer hiding it until we need it?? Where wa Cam Newton last week??? Will we annialate the Rebels in the Swamp? They have put up some respectable numbers on Offense--much better than ours--yeah I know.

In order to make a sucessful MNC run, you have to be either undefeated, or have one defeat in a premier league. That means after your first loss, EVERY GAME is a national championship game. If Georgia does not falter, and we don't, then the World's Largest Cocktail party in Jax will be our playoff game. They are the hurdle we need to jump. We shall see.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
God Himself does not propose
to judge a man until he is dead. So why should you?
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Some minds are like concrete
thoroughly mixed up and permanently set.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Peace starts with a smile.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
I don't know why some people
change churches; what difference does
it make which one you stay home from?!
* +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
A lot of church members who
are singing 'Standing on the Promises'
are just sitting on the premises.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
We were called to be witnesses, not lawyers or judges.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Be ye fishers of men. You catch them - He'll clean them.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Don't put a question mark where God put a period.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Don't wait for 6 strong men to take you to church.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Forbidden fruits create many jams.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
God grades on the cross, not the curve.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
God loves everyone, but probably prefers
'fruits of the spirit' over 'religious nuts!'
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage .
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
He who angers you, controls you!
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
If God is your Co-pilot - swap seats!
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Prayer:
Don't give God instructions -- just report for duty!
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
The task ahead of us is never as
great as the Power behind us.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
The Will of God never takes you to
where the Grace of God will not protect you.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
We don't change the word,
the word changes us.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
You can tell how big a person
is by what it takes to.........discourage him.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
The best mathematical equation I have ever seen:
1 cross + 3 nails= 4 given.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
If this e-mail blessed you in a profound
way today my Dear Friend,
May God and His Son
bless you from today on out!
I bet someone 'out there'
will LOVE this just as much as you did.
